Product description

Calcium is a metallic element found in the form of calcium carbonate in animal bones, clam shells, and eggshell. This kit uses the ability of calcium ions in alkaline solution to combine with o-cresolphthalein complexone (OCPC) to form a red complex, with the addition of a magnesium ion chelator to eliminate magnesium ion background interference. The absorbance of the colored complex at 575nm is measured to calculate the total calcium content.
