Chloroplast 3-phosphoglycerate kinase (PGK) is a key enzyme in the Calvin cycle. It catalyzes the reaction of 3-phosphoglycerate and ATP to produce 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate, which is then acted upon by 3-phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase and NADH to produce 3-phosphoglyceraldehyde and NAD+. By measuring the decrease in NADH, the activity of 3-phosphoglycerate kinase can be determined.
