Cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase (CAD, EC 1.1.1.195) is a key enzyme in plant secondary metabolism, especially in lignin synthesis, closely related to plant growth and development and resistance to pathogen invasion. This assay kit provides a simple, sensitive, and rapid method for determination: CAD catalyzes the conversion of cinnamyl alcohol and NADP+ into cinnamaldehyde and NADPH, which then reacts with a specific color developer to produce colored substances. By detecting the increase rate of colored substances, the CAD enzyme activity can be calculated.
