Diamine oxidase (DAO, EC1.4.3.6) is widely present in animals, plants, and microorganisms. It catalyzes the oxidation of diamines to aldehydes, and its activity is closely related to nucleic acid and protein synthesis. This kit measures DAO activity by detecting the decrease of NADH at 340nm, which is oxidized to NAD+ in the reaction with α-ketoglutarate and ammonia produced from diamines.
