Fructose-1,6-bisphosphate aldolase (EC 4.1.2.13, FBA) is present in both glycolysis/gluconeogenesis and the pentose phosphate pathway, providing energy in the form of ATP and substrates for anabolic metabolism in organisms. Therefore, FBA plays a crucial role in cellular life activities. FBA catalyzes the conversion of fructose-1,6-bisphosphate to glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate and dihydroxyacetone phosphate. Under the action of an enzyme complex, NADH and dihydroxyacetone phosphate are converted to NAD and α-glycerophosphate. By measuring the decrease in NADH at 340nm, the activity of FBA can be determined.
