Thiol compounds play an important role in detoxification within biological organisms and can react with olefins, hydrogen peroxide, aldehydes, epoxides, arsenic, and many heavy metals. Therefore, after animals and plants are exposed to certain chemical toxins, the content of thiols may decrease, with non-protein thiol components decreasing more rapidly. This kit uses the Ellman's method, where DTNB reacts with thiols in the sample, exhibiting a characteristic absorption peak at 412nm, and the absorbance value can be used to calculate the content of non-protein thiols.
