Soil α-galactosidase (α-GAL, EC 3.2.1.22), also known as α-D-galactoside galactosyltransferase, is involved in the hydrolysis of carbohydrates in soil. This kit provides a simple, sensitive, and rapid detection method. α-GAL decomposes p-nitrophenyl-α-D-galactopyranoside to produce p-nitrophenol (PNP), which has the maximum absorption peak at 405nm. By measuring the rate of increase in absorbance, the activity of α-GAL can be calculated.
