Soil β-glucosidase (β-GC, EC 3.2.1.21) can catalyze the hydrolysis of glycosidic bonds between aryl or alkyl groups and sugar atoms to generate glucose, which is an important component of the cellulase system and has an important physiological function in the sugar metabolism of soil microorganisms. Soil β-glucosidase can catalyze p-nitrophenyl-β-D-glucopyranoside to generate the yellow substance p-nitrophenol (PNP), which has characteristic light absorption at 405nm, thereby obtaining the activity of soil β-glucosidase.
