Thioredoxin peroxidase (TPx) belongs to the peroxidase family and is widely present in various organisms. It mainly reduces hydrogen peroxide and some hydroperoxides to achieve antioxidant effects, similar to GPX, and is also one of the key enzymes in the glutathione redox cycle. It has antioxidant functions and regulates signal transduction and immune responses mediated by hydrogen peroxide. This assay kit uses TPX to catalyze the oxidation of dithiothreitol (DTT) by H2O2, and by detecting the remaining H2O2 with the ferric thiocyanate method, the absorbance of the formed compound at 475nm is used to calculate the TPX activity.
