Pectin exists in the plant cell wall and cell inner layer, is an important part of plant cells, and is a derivative of carbohydrates, widely distributed in plant fruits, roots, and leaves. This kit uses the carbazole colorimetric method to determine the total pectin content. That is, total pectin is hydrolyzed into galacturonic acid in dilute acid, which undergoes a condensation reaction with carbazole in sulfuric acid solution to form a purple-red substance. The purple-red substance has a maximum absorption peak at 530nm upon spectral scanning, and the color depth is proportional to the total pectin content, thus obtaining the total pectin content.
