This method is suitable for the determination of nitrate ions in water. NO3- and NO2- both have absorption peaks in the ultraviolet region at 210-220nm, and the concentration is directly proportional to the absorbance value. Therefore, the ultraviolet absorption method can be used to directly detect the NO3- content in water. The interference of NO2- can be eliminated by adding ammonium sulfamate for decomposition, and other organic interferences can be eliminated by subtracting the absorbance measured at 275nm multiplied by a correction factor.
